We enjoyed this short article on the Sarah’s Silks website about the joys of open-ended toys and playthings. These toys have more than one way of being played with and spark imagination!

The article discusses selecting (and sorting) children’s toys, asking ourselves and our children questions such as, “Does this toy only have a single purpose or way to play? If it doesn’t have sentimental value, maybe we will donate it!”

We also loved the concept of nurturing instead of stimulating within play spaces:

'Thoughtful play spaces with toys that nurture instead of stimulate, encourage children to engage in deeper, more meaningful play.
